Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is seen by many Nigerians as a very funny man, but in the midst of the fun, he expresses some seriousness. Chief Obasanjo, who believes in Nigeria and has often argued in favour of goods made in the country, had taken delivery of some of Aba-made shoes.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has finally received some made-in-Aba shoes from Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
Obasanjo recently made the order through the governor during the 2016 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Forum in Lagos. According to Enyinnaya Appolos, Ikpeazu’s chief press secretary, the governor personally delivered the shoes to the former president at the latter’s Hilltop mansion in Ogun state.
“Sir, you made an order for made in Aba shoes through me when we met last in Lagos two weeks ago, I am here today to deliver the shoes to you sir.“These shoes, including the one I am wearing are made by our people in Aba. We want you to wear them and tell others about them.“As promoters of made in Aba products, we have taken it upon ourselves to promote made in Aba goods by wearing them and by telling others about them.
The governor told Obasanjo while presenting the shoes to him.

And Obasanjo replied thus:
“Governor, I can’t thank you enough, and through you, I cannot thank my brothers and my sisters who have decided to adorn me with these wonderful, classy and classic shoes made in our land by our own people.
